My Top 3 Wealth-Building Real Estate Books

By Sarah Hordusky

Whether you’re an experienced real estate investor or just starting out, approaching real estate investing with the right mindset and education will give you a strong head start. Of course, there’s no substitution for hands-on experience when it comes to being a successful real estate investor, but the more knowledge you have, the easier it will be to develop the right skills and strategy, and become profitable!

I am going to share with you  3 of my favorite books about wealth and real estate.

1. Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki

Rich Dad Poor Dad by Robert Kiyosaki is one of the most famous books in all of personal finance. Though it came out in 1997, it’s still a #1 Best Seller on Amazon in 2023. Kiyosaki tells the story of growing up with two dads – his real father (poor dad) and the father of his best friend (rich dad.) Throughout the book, he explains ways in which both men shaped his perception of money and investing. Kiyosaki teaches skills and knowledge that we can pass down to our children to maintain prosperity for generations.

Rich Dad Poor Dad combines autobiography and personal advice to outline the steps you need to take to become financially independent through becoming a business owner and investing in assets such as real estate. Kiyosaki believes that to become wealthy, one must be dedicated to financial education, which coupled with experience will lead to financial intelligence. Overall, Rich Dad Poor Dad is a classic that I highly recommend reading.

“Money comes and goes, but if you have the education about how money works, you gain power over it and can begin building wealth.” - Robert Kiyosaki, Rich Dad Poor Dad: What the Rich Teach Their Kids About Money That the Poor and Middle Class Do Not!

2. Set for Life by Scott Trench

Set for Life by Scott Trench gives young professionals the confidence they need in order to reach their financial goals and a detailed process on how to achieve early financial freedom. Trench stresses the importance of staying in control of your emotions, being self-sufficient, and keeping a strong focus on your goals. Although reaching financial freedom will take a few years, Trench urges the reader to not wait for retirement or 20 years down the road. Instead, Trench discusses various ways to save money and use real estate and stock investing to generate passive income, which can accelerate the path to early financial freedom. Set for Life is not a get-rich-quick kind of book, but a step-by-step process to reach financial independence through hard work and consistency. I recommend this book to anyone willing to put in the work to achieve their financial goals.

“True wealth is about building out a Financial Runway – creating enough readily accessible wealth that you can survive without work for a year. Then five years. Then for life.” - Scott Trench, Set for Life: Dominate Life, Money, and the American Dream
